The Quiet Before the Summer

June arrived without the memo. Dark skies, cool air, the kind of grey that makes you wonder if summer got lost somewhere. The bikes are ready. The adventures are planned. We're waiting.

But I've always loved these in-between weeks. The world slows down. And that's when the real work happens.

I've been deep in the wood. There's something about timber and resin together that mirrors the sea — the way one flows into the other, the way the wind shapes everything it touches without ever being seen. I walk the dogs each morning and I'm watching all of it, storing it, letting it get into the work. The music is flowing too. Something is shifting — I can feel it.

The collection is finding its people — and knowing that these pieces are hanging on your walls, bringing a little colour and joy into your days, means more to me than I can say.

And through all of it, she is there. She is the rarest of souls — deep, rich, strong, beautiful, with an intellect that leaves me breathless. The world hasn't caught up with her yet. She is my energy. My warmth. The reason I pick up the pen.

When the skies are grey, I look at her and remember — everything is exactly as it should be.

The sun will come. It always does.

A Week of Sun, Sea and Inspiration

Some weeks feel like they were painted rather than lived. This was one of them.

The south coast has been bathed in a heatwave — the kind that slows everything down to exactly the right pace. Early mornings on the beach before the world wakes up, just the dogs, the sand, the light coming in low across the water. There is something about that hour that feels borrowed from somewhere extraordinary. The colours are different. Everything is possible.

She calls the sea her blue space. The place where everything clears. Watching someone you love find that kind of peace is its own kind of art.

We travelled to Wales — her home, her heartland, the place that fills her back up. Rolling green, ancient and alive. Family time with her beloved parents and her gorgeous sons. The kind of warmth that reminds you what everything is for. Wales has its own energy — I felt it the moment we arrived. It gets into you.

And all the while the creativity never stops. It doesn't switch off — if anything being out in nature turns it all the way up. I found myself on the beach doing what I always do — seeing art in everything. Pebbles arranged just so. Shells forming compositions in the sand. The beach is the most extraordinary gallery in the world if you let it be. No canvas needed. Just eyes that want to see.

Back on the south coast, Instagram is growing, galleries are beginning to notice, and the Spring & Summer Floral Blooms collection is finding the people it was always meant for.

I didn't know what would happen when I finally shared my work with the world. I still don't. But sitting on a sun-warmed beach this week, dogs beside me, early morning light on the water, shells in my hands — I felt something I can only describe as rightness.

This is exactly where I'm supposed to be. Doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.

More soon.
